We’ve already looked at the wonders of coconut oil in regards to medicinal and in baking, but now we’ll examine using coconut oil for skin and body care. Since so many skin and body care products contain chemicals and hormone disruptors that none of us need, coconut oil is a welcomed substitution that is all natural. Yes, no chemicals, phthalates, parabens, propylene glycol, etc. And it’s inexpensive—a real bargain for skin and body care.
I love it when I can share inexpensive tricks for keeping you healthy. Unfortunately, some of the things I share will increase your budget. But these are the ways I use coconut oil for my skin and body care and it actually saves me money.
Coconut oil can be used as:
A moisturizer for your face and entire body (with no chemicals!)
Makeup remover
Eye cream for wrinkles
Personal lubricant
Wound salve
Ointment to prevent scarring
Shaving cream
Base for DIY toothpaste
Natural sunscreen – (SPF 4 only though)
Healing cream for after sun exposure
Massage oil
Nail cuticle oil
Cream for dry, cracked feet
Ointment for baby and diaper rash
I also use fractionated coconut oil and jojoba oil with drops of frankincense, myrrh, geranium and rose as an anti-aging cream.
Now you see why my husband and I always have a container of organic virgin coconut oil in our kitchen, bath, and a small container when we travel. We use it for so many things that it’s a basic staple in our home. When you consider the cost of skin care cosmetics today, it’s a bargain.
Can you share in the comments below any more ways that you use this inexpensive gift of nature?
For Your Health,
Ginny
