As I mentioned previously, everyone is talking about health and toxins. RFK, Jr. vows to reduce toxins in foods and everyday products now that he has been confirmed as the head of DHHS. Although this will help, personal responsibility must also come into play. Much of our toxic exposure is clearly within our jurisdiction. So as I promised, this blog post will show you how to lessen your toxic exposure as you go throughout your day.
In a previous blog post, I showed you how many toxins we are exposed to by taking you through the possible toxins a woman can be exposed to in just one day. Remember, that when our toxic load is high, or as many doctors say, “Your toxic bucket is overflowing,” it distracts our immune system from working as God intended. So let’s go through that same day, but doing things differently to lessen or reduce our toxic exposure.
After waking, I take a shower or bathe with soaps such as Dead Sea Mineral Vanilla Soap and my John Masters Peppermint Organic Shampoo containing no chemicals. That’s a huge difference from before.
I dry off in a towel and this one contains 100 percent natural cotton fibers and has been washed in chemical-free laundry detergent.
I apply coconut oil to moisturize my skin which contains only 100 percent coconut oil and nothing else. In other words, no methylparabens, no propylparabens, no polyethylene glycol, and no chemicals for fragrance.
I use a deodorant containing essential oils and coconut oil, tallow, arrowroot powder, baking soda, etc. And it works! That’s important! I want to keep my friends—don’t you!
To style my hair, I use a mousse containing no alcohol and all organic ingredients made by John Masters. This is important because this mousse is applied right to our scalp and anything that touches our skin is circulated throughout our body by our bloodstream. And might I add—this is applied right near our brain! And then I spray my hair with John Masters Organic Hair Spray.
I apply anti-aging cream to my face such as Purity Woods Dream Cream. This dream cream contains maple leaf extract among other things and is 100 percent organic. There will be a link to this below. I use this anti-aging cream every day and I love it. If you purchase from this link, this ministry will receive a minimal amount to help pay expenses.
I sculpt my face with a foundation containing all-natural ingredients on the European standard with products from Beauty Counter or Juice Beauty or something nontoxic.
Because most colognes and perfumes contain many chemicals, I simply don’t use them. I prefer the scent of natural essential oils.
I eat a hearty breakfast of organic dairy products which contain no antibiotics and no growth hormone given to the cows. (and remember, these hormones are not allowed in Europe!) I eat a whole grain, organic cereal which is made of ingredients not treated with pesticides and not dried in chemicals. I drink organic coffee that contains no pesticides or herbicides. And I must use decaffeinated coffee, and when it’s organic that means chemicals are not used to take out the caffeine. When on the run, I do not use cups made from plastic or Styrofoam. I take my ceramic cup or stainless steel Yeti with my coffee in it.
After breakfast, I brush my teeth with my DoterraTtoothpaste which is all-natural and does not contain fluoride. I do not have hypothyroid issues and I don’t want to have them either! Fluoride can impact those who have hypothyroid issues. I do not use mouthwash daily—only on rare occasions such as when I feel I’ve been exposed to an illness or feel one coming on. There are mouthwashes which don’t kill the good bacteria in your mouth. In fact, some of these put good bacteria in your mouth.
Before running out the door, I get dressed in clothes that have been washed in detergent free of harsh chemicals and I try to wear natural fibers as much as I can–meaning cotton, silk, wool, linen, and hemp. When we perspire if our clothing contains chemicals and plastic fibers, these chemicals can be absorbed through our skin.
I start the car and drive to work while breathing gasolene fumes from other cars and my own car. We can’t prevent this, but we can close our windows and allow our car air filters to filter some of this for us.
Throughout the day, I meet my daily hydration needs by drinking clean, filtered water from stainless steel, ceramic, and glass containers.
I wash my hands before lunch using a Doterra Foaming Handwash made from essential oils.
For lunch, I eat a salad with lean organic chicken or wild-caught shrimp dressed with different fruits, vegetables, nuts, and a healthy olive oil dressing. You won’t catch me drinking any kind of soft drink. Water with lemon and a dash of stevia or hot organic tea is now what my body craves instead of chemical drinks.
After lunch, I reapply my Burt’s Bees lipstick which contains all-natural ingredients and no lead like most lipsticks. You may have heard that Burt’s Bees was bought out by Clorox Corporation. This greatly disturbed many people including me. So I called the factory and spoke with its manager about the changes since they were sold. He told me that there have been no changes. He is the same manager that was there before and after it was sold. This made me feel a lot better since I buy many products from this company.
Instead of lighting a scented candle to dispel the odors in my office after lunch, I diffuse a lavender essential oil which relaxes my body and gives off no benzene or toluene.
On the drive home, I fill up my car with gas, by wearing a glove on the hand that touches the nozzle and turning my head in the opposite direction. This also protects me from catching cold and flu germs that might be on that nozzle. Think about how many hands have touched that nozzle in just one day! You can also use a paper towel between your fingers and that nozzle. I look down to make sure I’m not stepping on any gasoline on the ground, too. If I do, it brings those fumes back into my car!
I never get my hair colored, but there are organic products that your hairdresser can use. But for many years, I did get a perm in my hair several times a year. No more! There are too many chemicals in those perms and I don’t want those chemicals touching my scalp, because any chemical that touches my head is circulated through my blood to all parts of my body including my brain. Something to think about.
Because of all the chemicals involved in getting my nails painted, I rarely do that anymore. But there are a few lines of nail products that are organic and not loaded with heavy chemicals such as Dazzle Dry. Remember that just sitting in a nail salon is hazardous to your health. This is why I prefer to have my hair cut at a place that does not also do nails so I don’t have to breathe all those chemicals while having my hair cut and styled.
When I arrive home from work and notice ants in the kitchen. I don’t grab the insecticide and spray the entire room. Instead, I buy an ant trap. It simply attracts the ant to come in it and presto—no more ants!
I no longer eat farm-raised salmon which are raised with chemicals. I only eat wild-caught salmon. And I certainly don’t microwave in plastic. John Hopkins will warn you about that. In fact, I rarely use a microwave. Instead, I boil water in a steel kettle and warm my leftovers in the oven or with a stainless steel pot. I only use stainless steel to cook on the stove and LeCreuset which is nonstick ceramic. So I sear my wild-caught salmon in a pan. I serve my salmon with organic vegetables and whole grain rice garnished with fresh herbs and spices.
After dinner, I clean the bathroom with cleaning sprays made from essential oils, vinegar, and natural ingredients. I mop my floors with a solution I dilute made by Doterra. but I clean the rest of my house with cleaning products made by Branch Basics. Check out the links below.
When it’s time for bed, I put on an all-organic nightie that has not been treated with flame-retardant chemicals or fabric softener. I rub my dream cream made by Purity Woods on my face and neck again. I then apply a soothing ointment to my nose and lips which contains no petroleum. I used to apply products containing petroleum for many years, but no more.
After a long day, I climb into my bed and lie between 100 percent organic cotton sheets which have not washed in chemicals and are not treated with flame retardant chemicals.
This day has a far less toxic load than the previous blog post which shows all the chemicals a woman can be exposed to in JUST ONE DAY! It’s not that we can avoid all chemicals and toxins, but when we significantly lessen our toxic load, it allows our God-given immune system to work as God intended. Just imagine how your health could improve by simply doing things differently.
What ways are you using to reduce your toxic load? We learn from each other.
